Science: Students need to "KNOW" about the layers of the Earth. (Page 56 Science Handbook)
Students need to know :
Math: Developing an understanding of the size of fractions which will allow students to compare fractions (<,>, =) with the same numerator or same denominator,
Students will also need to be able to compare using what they know about the benchmark fraction or whole numbers, 0, ½, and 1.

Assessment: Check Agenda.
Students need to know :
- Names of layers and where they are located on/in the Earth
- Students need to know what the layers are made of.
- Students need to know the approximate temperatures and the order of the layers from coolest to hottest which will allow for comparison if needed. (See images below.)
- Students need to know and have an understanding of the thickness of the layers compared to the other layers.
- Students need to understand the words, outermost, innermost, inner, and outer.
- Students need to know if a layer is considered a liquid or a solid.
- Students need to know the basic shape of our earth.
- Students need to be able to compare the different layers by using the above criteria.
